7 Not-So-Stuffy Social Clubs in Los Angeles
The age of old, stuffy social clubs have all but gone the way of Father Knows Best, leaving a modern void in the space we call our “third place”. We decided to take a look at some interesting offerings in our fair city for inclusive, diverse opportunities to gather together. From Downtown to the West Side, we found many interesting spots to pursue our interests, from athletic fitness and business networking to beneficent and convivial pursuits. Here are seven social membership clubs that piqued our interest and have us thinking about joining, post-vaccine.
Griffin Club
Griffin Club’s story begins with Elmer Griffin. In 1926, Griffin opened the Westside Tennis Club, one of the only clubs in Los Angeles that would accept actors and entertainers as members. Over the last 90 years, the Club has changed names and changed hands a number of times, but has never lost its inherent appeal to the residents of Los Angeles.
