Holiday Ice Skating in Los Angeles
Skate your way into the holiday season! From New York City to Toronto, Moscow, Amsterdam and all over the Northern Hemisphere, ice skating is an iconic holiday activity. But those snowy climates are not alone, Los Angeles also gets into the spirit. From first-time gliders to experienced skaters, get out your scarves, hats, and gloves and visit these ice rinks for merrymaking, outdoor fun and holiday smiles. You can skate, host your private parties, and get lessons at these four locations in Downtown L.A., Santa Monica, and El Segundo:
LA Kings Holiday Ice at L.A. Live is open until January 8, 2023. Bring your friends, plan your date night, or enjoy the ice rink before and after a game or concert! General Admission tickets are only available for purchase on-site at the ice rink box office during hours of operation. Fast-Pass tickets are available online at lalive.com for $45. Nov 26-Dec 18 open daily (4 sessions) 5PM - 6:30PM, 7PM - 8:30PM, 9PM - 10:30PM, 11PM - 12:30AM; Dec 19 - Jan 8 open daily (4 sessions) 5PM - 6PM, 6:30PM - 8PM, 8:30PM - 10PM, 10:30PM - 12AM; *Dec 24 open for the first two sessions 4PM - 6PM and 6:30PM - 8PM. All tickets include skate rentals or you can bring your own. The skates are all hockey skates and sizes range from youth 10 to adult 15.
Pershing Square Holiday Ice Skating Rink is back for a season of outdoor ice skating in the heart of downtown LA. Skate rental is included in the $20 price of admission. Figure and hockey skate sizes range from toddler’s size 8 to adult’s size 15. You may also bring your own ice skates. You can buy tickets on line at holidayicerinkdowntownla.com. Open daily through January 8, 2023. Sessions are one hour long at 11:30AM, 1PM, 2:30PM, 4PM, 5:30PM, 7PM, and 8:30PM, Christmas Eve and Day, New Year's Eve and Day 10AM-9:30PM. You can also take a skating lesson!
Ice at Santa Monica. The City of Santa Monica transforms the corner of Fifth Street and Arizona Avenue into a winter wonderland. The rink is open through January 16, 2023 and operates daily from noon to 10PM. Skate rental and all-day admission costs $20. You can also host your next party at the ice rink. Cabanas are available for rent in 2-hour time slots and can accommodate up to 25 people each.
If you get hooked on the sport, you can skate year-round at the Toyota Sports Performance Center (the Los Angeles Kings official training center) in El Segundo. They have public skate sessions Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 5PM, Friday & Saturday from 7:30PM - 9:45PM, and weekends from 1-3PM. Adults pay $14 and skate rentals are $7.25. They host Learn To Skate USA and other lesson programs. Also located at the Toyota Sports Performance Center is Ultimate Skate & Hockey, a sports equipment and apparel company that is fully stocked with equipment for hockey players and figure skaters. They provide services for skate sizing, boot maintenance, and blade sharpening.
Keep in mind that if the weather is lousy ("Water from the sky!"), the outdoor rinks will close to keep everyone safe. Some have opportunities to reschedule and others have a no-refund policy.
