It's almost here! Halloween!

It's time for all things spooky, scary, ghoulish, and delish! This is many people's favorite time of year and beloved non-holiday holiday. In that spirit, here are our recommendations for simple decorations and a baker's dozen list of our favorite Halloween movies.

Hey, let's decorate! While we love a good arts and crafts project with the kids, with our schedules, we're getting Halloween look the easy way--we're going shopping and taking it easy with the setup and teardown.

Where are we shopping? Spirit Halloween is a pop-up store at 3875 Overland Ave, across from Best Buy in Culver City. They have costumes, decorations and more. One stop and we're done. Inflatables and fake spider webs. Really, where else are you going to find an 8-foot light-up inflatable skull? As for the spider webs, we're not just draping the bushes. Those things are super-stretchy, so you could do your whole lawn or house if you wanted to. Indoor decor is also easy - simply drape every piece of furniture with a white sheet, turn on very few lights and light all the candles. Instant creepy.

If you're looking for more elaborate decorations, Google Images your way on over to "New Orleans Halloween decorations" for some ideas. We love a good collection of skeletons, mummies, or ghosts. That city really knows how to decorate with style and a sense of humor!

Meanwhile, back on the couch, we're eating pop corn and watch some movies! Here are our favorites:

Hocus Pocus - Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy star as three Salem, Massachusetts witches, resurrected just in time for Halloween.

The Addams Family & Addams Family Values - Great jokes, campiness, and gothic style? Yes, yes, and yes. And, Angelica Huston is perfect as Morticia.

The Haunted Mansion - Maybe a bit too scary for younger viewers, but Eddie Murphy's comedic genius is as amazing as it ever was and Eddie plays a real etate agent, so it's an obvious favorite for us.

Labryinth - This bit of whimsy was a collaborative effort by Jim Henson, George Lucas, and David Bowie. It's imaginitive, heartwarming, and simply amazing.

Beetlejuice - This Tim Burton horror/comedy starring Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Michael Keaton, Catherine O'Hara, Jeffrey Jones, and Winona Ryder. A peek into life as a ghost has never been funnier.

Edward Scissorhands - Another Tim Burton masterpiece, Edward Scissorhands traces the unlikely love story between a man with scissor blades for hands (Johnny Depp) and a suburban teenager (Winona Ryder).

Ghostbusters - With Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis. Three former parapsychology professors set up shop as ghost-catchers. I ain't 'fraid of no ghost.

Practical Magic - Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman star in this quaint rom-com and use their magical powers to free their family from a curse.

The Nightmare Before Christmas - Tim Burton does it again with this animated classic musical that is part Halloween and part Christmas.

The Craft - Great for teen girls. Four high schoolers discover witchcraft—what could possibly go wrong? The campy thriller explores the spiraling effects of the supernatural on a Los Angeles high school.

The Witches of Eastwick - Cher, Susan Sarandon, and Michelle Pfeiffer are three witches (who don't know they are witches), whose wishes are granted when a suave, single man played by Jack Nicholson.

Death Becomes Her - This dark comedy starring Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn and Bruce Willis follows two women fighting for the affections of one man who take a potion that promises eternal youth.

One for when the kids go to bed: Rocky Horror Picture Show. It never gets old.
