Great French Restaurants in West Los Angeles

french-food.jpg

We love French food. Famous TV Chefs have been launched on Julia Child's French cooking success and we're here for it. What is strange is that there is a seeming lack of French restaurants in Los Angeles, which makes us cock our heads and look sad, like when the dog doesn't understand us saying "Voulez-vous acheter une nouvelle maison?"

Thankfully, there are a few...

Our Favorite: A Food Affair

French perfection. With Chef Christian managing and orchestrating the back part of the restaurant through his 40+ years of experience in the food industry, and Babette managing the front of the house, these two are the epitome of a successful couple. This dynamic duo is what this dining experience is all about, feeling as if you were already a part of their family. 1513 South Robertson Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90035

Super-Romatic: The Little Door

We have some nostalgia about this place. Organic seasonal ingredients, creatively prepared and impeccably presented, characterize their unique menu. This might be one of the most romantic restaurants in LA. 8164 West 3rd Street Los Angeles, CA 90048

Exceptional French: TLD at Harlowe

Executive Chef T. Nicolas Peter, the culinary mastermind who helmed the kitchens of The Little Door and Little Next Door for nearly 25 years, presents a rustic French-Mediterranean menu at legendary West Hollywood hotspot Harlowe. Featuring classics like Marinated Octopus, Moroccan Lamb Stew, Grilled Merguez Sandwich, and a colorful selection of cocktails, wines, and desserts. 7321 Santa Monica Blvd West Hollywood, CA 90046

A Little Taste of Paris: Belle Vie Food & Wine

A small neighborhood French Bistro, local hangout...they serve delicious French comfort food inspired by local California produce. 11916 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90025

Supporting Students: Garden Room at Los Angeles Trade Tech (Downtown)

This final recommendation comes by way of a member of our staff who attended a school that had a culinary program. She told us that many culinary schools have a restaurant that the students run to hone their chef skills and learn restaurant management. The food is delicious and inexpensive, and you're supporting educational and career goals of young people. When we can go out for lunch again, we're going to try the Garden Room at Los Angeles Trade Tech. 400 W Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90015 (213) 763-7000

Bon appétit!
