The best gin tonic on the planet.
Let's take a break on the patio, shall we? Don't have a patio? We can help you get one with a house attached.
It's getting hot outside and let's face it, we need a refreshing adult beverage and take a break from worry for 30 minutes or so.
A few years ago we were in Lisbon in search on the best gin tonic on the planet. (Yes they leave out the & in gin & tonic.) We're absolutely sure we found it at a little place called Matiz-Pombalina. They swoon over great G&T, and so do we. We asked for the recipes and wow, did they deliver. The first thing they told us is to keep in mind that your gin and tonic is only as good as both the gin and the tonic.
Here are the house secrets:
Gin. Everyone has a favorite. Ours is Hendrick's because it delivers a great big note of juniper. Not a fan? Bombay Sapphire is a beautiful gin that also makes a gorgeous martini. Aviation American Gin's dominant aromatic is lavender, and it's owned by Ryan Reynolds, frequent doer of cool things.
Tonic. Fever Tree is amazing. Elderflower is our favorite, but if you can only get the standard Indian, that works, too. Their website is hitting on all cylinders when it comes to helping you craft the perfect cocktail.
Fruit/Veg. We've all done the lime, but if you have never done the lemon, cucumber, and rosemary combo, you're really missing out.
Spices. Peppercorns actually add bite. Rosewater gives you a bit of fragrance you never thought you needed.
